Birmingham Asbestos Services

Clarity Before
Any Work Begins.

Birmingham Asbestos Services helps facilities managers and project teams move from a suspect material to a properly defined next step.

Surveyor recording an intact commercial building interior

A Property-Led Approach

Our focus is asbestos surveys, material testing and planned removal for commercial, industrial and public-sector premises in Birmingham. We also help scope disposal, air monitoring and refurbishment investigations.

Different situations need different information. A landlord reviewing a register, a facilities manager planning an office renovation and a contractor preparing a strip-out should each start with a clear scope.

Useful Information, Clear Boundaries

We ask about the property, the material and the intended work before recommending a starting point. Existing reports and proposed drawings can help identify what is already known and what still needs investigation.

A sample result relates to a sample. A survey relates to its stated scope. A removal handover should identify what was done and the records that support it.

The Standards Behind The Work

Surveying

HSE’s HSG264, Asbestos: The survey guide, is the reference for survey planning and reporting. HSE strongly recommends accredited surveying organisations. Ask about competence and the scope of inspection before commissioning a survey.

Analysis And Monitoring

HSG248, Asbestos: The Analysts’ Guide, sets out analytical procedures. Relevant UKAS accreditation should be checked for laboratory analysis and air monitoring activities. This website does not claim an accreditation on behalf of an unnamed firm.

Removal And Waste

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 govern asbestos work. Where the work category requires an HSE licence, the contractor must hold the appropriate licence. Waste arrangements should use an authorised route and the applicable documentation.

People And Premises

We welcome enquiries from facilities managers, landlords, managing agents, shop owners and building contractors working on commercial, industrial and public-sector premises. Access, occupancy and work boundaries are part of the discussion from the start.
